Overview
Arukah is a nonprofit Christian transitional housing program that helps men who are struggling with homelessness due to the loss of a job, having recently been released from prison, drug and alcohol problems and lack of family support. Arukah House is not a shelter. It is for men who are ready to move forward in life. The home helps men with vocational training, attaining work, saving for future residency, and learning skills to continue being successful in society.
Mission: A main area of our focus will be formerly incarcerated men. This group has some of the highest rates of homelessness and too often receives the least amount of resources when released from prison. Whether it is coming out of homelessness or out of prison, it is an uphill battle to move forward and become self-sufficient. We at Arukah want to help these men move forward in life!
Services offered
- Residents of Arukah House enroll in a 1-year live-in program, are assigned a Case Worker/Mentor, and receive food and job/vocational training.
- Spiritual Support: Prayer, Bible Study, Life Group, Church Connection
- Emotional Support: Lay/pastoral counseling, Referrals to outside resources, Mentoring
- Practical Support: Job assistance, Job connections with local businesses, Community services, Computer and other life skills, Money management/budgeting, Financial assistance, Entrepreneurial assistance
- Sobriety Support: Regular AA/NA support meetings and sponsorship for those who need it
- Family Reconciliation: If bridges have been burned with residential family, and the family is considered safe, we help the men reconcile with their families.

Get involved
Discipleship: Looking for qualified people to teach life skills and mentor men. Job Opportunities: Our goal is to partner with local business owners to help provide employment with livable wages or Job Vocational Training which provides skills to help with obtaining a job. Donated Items: We are looking for new and lightly used items we can sell at Arukah shop or swap meets. We will also consider donations of cars, boats, and property. Future Houses: Our hope is to open Arukah Homes all over the Bay Area. The need is great! Maybe you are aware of, or have a home that would be perfect for an Arukah House.

Donations: When partnering with Arukah financially, it helps provide the needed funding for the day to day needs and future development of Arukah.
