Overview

Asbury United Methodist Church is a community that believes that ALL people are children of God and are of sacred worth.

Mission: Asbury United Methodist Church affirms Christ’s example of unconditional love and publicly affirms a commitment to spiritual diversity and individual integrity. Therefore, we welcome all, including those who have not always been accepted because of race, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, cultural background, social or economic status, family make-up, physical abilities, or age. Our community embraces you and celebrates God’s love with you. We receive you with open arms, joy and the grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Services offered

• Children: In addition to our Sunday worship opportunities, we have events all throughout the school year: Cherub Choir and Rainbow Choir, family service projects, liturgical events like Easter and Advent, community events, Summer Family Camp and so much more!
• Youth: Asbury's youth ministry helps students in 6th through 12th grades find authentic purpose and belonging in their relationships with God, each other, and their community.
• Youth Sunday School meets on the second and fourth Sundays the month. The youth will be invited to go to Sunday School with the Sunday School leaders during those services where they will have fellowship and Bible Study.
• In addition to Sunday School, we have other opportunities for growth and connection throughout the year like: Youth Choir, serving in worship (liturgist or AV booth, for example), monthly fun activities, monthly service projects, lock-ins, yearly service trips, and more!
• Our weekly youth gatherings are done in collaboration with Lynnewood UMC and some meetings take place on their campus in Pleasanton.
• Young Adults: Join us on the first Sunday of each month for a brunch somewhere around Livermore!
• Throughout the month, we host various social events and service projects. From game nights and movie outings to volunteering and community service, we love spending time together and trying new things.
• Small Groups: Contact the church office or Pastor Ouk-Yean to learn more about our small groups, including how to join a group or lead one yourself!
• Stephen Ministry: Stephen Ministry is a confidential, one-to-one Christian care program that equips and empowers lay caregivers—called Stephen Ministers— to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are going through a hard time or transition.
• LGBTQ+: We are a welcoming and inclusive community that provides a safe space for individuals of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Our group is dedicated to spiritual growth, fellowship, and service, fostering a sense of belonging and connection.
• United Women in Faith: The United Women in Faith Reading Program encourages members to think critically about current issues through an annual selection of member-reviewed books. It offers an excellent opportunity to deepen your spirituality and to broaden your understanding of our mission work. Certificates are given for those who complete reading selections in different categories.
