Overview
Calvary has been a community of neighbors centered around San Lorenzo for nearly 75 years. More than a place to “go to church,” we are a community of people constantly figuring out what it means to be church—to one another, and to our neighborhood. Calvary is a member of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Within this church body, we are part of the CA-NV-HI District.
Mission: Living as a Christian in the East Bay makes you a minority. We want to see families learning to thrive in faith even in this challenging setting.
Right now: Our faith is centered on resurrection and new life. We have expectations of new life for ourselves as individuals and as community. You can expect the same. We want to share this new life with you.

- The Marriage Course: The Marriage Course is a series of seven sessions, designed to help couples invest in their relationship and build a strong marriage. It’s entirely online, with couples working through it at their own pace. Whether you’ve been married six months or 40 years, whether you’re in a good place or struggling, The Marriage Course offers practical support to strengthen your relationship.
- Alpha: Alpha is a place to bring your questions about faith, Jesus, purpose, and other big topics. It’s a place to learn, but also a place to share your own opinions and be heard. Alpha is a 12-session course that runs a couple times each year. Contact us to learn more about the next Alpha.
Leadership
Pastor Matt - Matt Behrens is pastor of Calvary. Elders - Calvary’s elders support the community by assisting with pastoral care and community worship. Board of Governance - Calvary’s board acts on behalf of the congregation to conduct the business affairs of the church in support of mission and ministry.
