Overview
Christ Church East Bay affirms and confesses the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed with Christians around the world and across the centuries. More specifically, we officially subscribe to the Westminster Standards as a congregation within the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC).
Services offered
- Next Generation Ministries: Our goal is to assist the parents in equipping our kids and youth to be the next generation of young men and women who have a deep love for Jesus, a commitment to the church, and serve our world by acts and words of hope, justice, love, and compassion for those in need.
- Christ Church Young Adults: Whether you are new to Christ Church or have been around for a while, Christ Church Young Adults (CCYA!) is a place to find community in a busy and often transitional season of life for college students, graduate students, and young professionals in their 20s and 30s. Over the past year, young adults gathered for meals, hikes, game nights, local outings, and a retreat in Yosemite. We are grateful for the ways friendships have grown, and we look forward to what is ahead in the coming year. CCYA is a space to build meaningful friendships, grow in faith, ask honest questions, and find your place in the life of the church. Whether you are an undergraduate student, pursuing graduate studies, beginning your career, or navigating adult life in your 20s or 30s, friends are always welcome. In the year ahead, we hope to continue gathering through seasonal events, shared meals, and regular Sunday connection points that help young adults get to know one another and become more rooted in the church community.

History
Christ Church began as a church plant in 2006, temporarily holding services at the Marsh Arts Center in downtown Berkeley on Allston Way near Oxford Street. In 2010, Christ Church found a permanent home in one of Berkeley’s architectural treasures. Our sanctuary, located at the corner of Cedar Street and Walnut Street, was built in 1913 by architect James W. Plachek as his first major commission. Designed in the Arts and Crafts style and affectionately known as the “Berkeley Bungalow Church,” the building has long been a place of worship and community gathering. A congregation has been meeting on these grounds since 1892. Today, Christ Church continues the legacy of faith and community by living out our mission: leading people into deeper relationships with Christ and His Church, through community and for the city.
