Overview

WHAT WE BELIEVE The Gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for our sins and rose again. Through His death and resurrection, He offers forgiveness for our sins, restoration of our relationship with God, purpose and meaning in this life, and never-ending life in the future. We cannot earn this salvation. Rather, it is a gift freely given to anyone who accepts it through trusting in Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. Therefore, once we have placed our faith and trust in Jesus, our salvation cannot be lost, and we are secure in Him forever. This life-transforming decision is not the end; it is just the beginning. In love, God meets us where we are but doesn't leave us there. God desires that we mature in our faith to be more like Jesus and empowers us through the Holy Spirit to live a love-filled life. But that's not all. He has also given us relationships with others in the church for mutual support and encouragement. As we follow Jesus together, we will experience life as it was meant to be lived — filled with His joy and peace, with strength for today, and hope for tomorrow. Transformation is a spiritual partnership between God and His children in which our desires, thinking, and ultimately our behavior is changed so that we progressively become more like Jesus. At Grace Church, we want to experience spiritual transformation so that we become the people God made us to be. In order for this to happen, we must increase our desire and capacity to love God and love others. When Jesus was on this earth, there was one command that He prioritized above all others by calling it His command: "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." John 15:12 The evidence of spiritual transformation is most clearly seen when we demonstrate Christ-like love starting with those closest to us. In very simple terms, following Jesus means loving like Jesus. "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." John 13:35 WHAT KEEPS US FROM LOVING LIKE JESUS? Each of us is prewired by our choices, past experiences, and human nature. In the book of Romans, the Apostle Paul describes this as our "old nature." Through the power of the Holy Spirit, God wants to transform our ways of thinking [renewing of our mind] so that we freely love others as Christ has loved us. This involves taking off our "old nature," or sinful nature, and putting on our "new nature." In order for this to happen, we need awareness of when we are thinking with our "old nature." We can then invite the Holy Spirit to transform us through the truth of Scripture, prayer, and relationships and "rewire" our thinking. THE GOAL IS SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION The more committed we are to loving like Jesus, the more awareness there will be of our old ways of thinking. It is hard to form new habits of grace, forgiveness, boldness, and compassion by ourselves. This is why the church is so important. God designed us to be in supportive, loving relationships. We need a team of safe, supportive people who share our desire to become like Christ by loving others.

Services offered

• Grace Youth
• Grace Youth gathers on the first and third Fridays of each month from 7pm-9pm to help students grow spiritually. The gatherings are casual, relational, fun, and meaningful. Our goal is that students learn to worship God in a way that is relevant for them yet at the same time welcoming for those who don’t normally go to church.
• Grace Kids
• Grace Kids meets on Sunday mornings at 10:30am in the Youth Room. Children engage in a fun, exciting atmosphere as they question, explore, and experience a relationship with God. Starting with pre-session activities and music that moves into a lesson and a time of application, Grace Kids encourages children to live out God’s love while connecting with each other to grow in their faith.
• Grace Nursery
• Our nursery is designed to provide a warm and nurturing atmosphere. Infants, toddlers, and preschoolers are taught by loving and trained volunteers. With an environment that is full of hands-on toys and age-appropriate lessons and activities, parents can feel comfortable knowing their child will be safe and secure while they enjoy the Sunday service.
• What is FORMUS?
• Because real discipleship always happens in community, FORMUS is about sharing life with others around the teachings of Jesus. These relationships, when they are authentic and real, will allow life application of Scripture. FORMUS is our approach to answering the question, “How do we partner with God in the transformation of our lives?” It is an invitation for God to form us to become more like Him. Ultimately, our spiritual growth should be measured by how we express God's love to those we know best. "And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect." 1 John 4:16-17
• FORMUS GROUPS
• Grace Church is committed to connecting people through relational communities that meet for the purpose of transformation. We believe it is impossible for us to reach our goal of Following Jesus Together during our Sunday services alone. This is where our FORMUS Groups come in. Whether in Sermon Discussion Groups, Bible studies, or other relational community meetings for the purpose of transformation, each is focused on connecting us in an atmosphere that's conducive to having meaningful conversations and providing space to practice and demonstrate Christ-like love.
• FOUNDATIONS
• The goal of FORMUS Foundations is to provide 1-on-1 spiritual mentoring so that each person moves toward spiritual maturity by living out God's values and purposes in their daily life. We believe that Jesus came to give each of His followers abundant, overflowing, victorious life. Through a relational process of studying and applying God's Word, FORMUS Foundations provides the tools needed to create a framework for ongoing spiritual transformation.
• SHARING LIFE TOGETHER
• SLT is a 6-month cohort that involves teaching, personal reflection, conversation, and relationship as we focus on three key areas: Knowing Yourself, Knowing God, and Helping Others. SLT provides the foundation for how we equip leaders and the approach we take to helping others grow spiritually at Grace Church. Each cohort is led by Pastor Josh and Cecil Wroten.

Denomination and statement of faith

The Trinity We believe in one eternal God, the source and goal of life, who exists as three persons in the Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In love and joy, God creates and sustains the universe, including humanity, male and female, who are made in God's image. God the Father We believe in God the Father Almighty, whose love is the foundation of salvation and righteous judgment, and who calls us into a covenant relationship with God and with one another. God the Son We believe in Jesus Christ, the Word, who is fully God and fully human. He came to show us God and perfect humanity, and, through his life, death, and resurrection, to reconcile us to God. He is now actively present with us as Savior, Teacher, Lord, and Friend. God the Holy Spirit We believe in the Holy Spirit, who breathed God's message into the prophets and apostles, opens our eyes to God's Truth in Jesus Christ, empowers us for holy living, and carries on in us the work of salvation. Salvation We believe that salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone, to whom we must respond with repentance, faith, and obedience. Through Christ we come into a right relationship with God, our sins are forgiven, and we receive eternal life. The Bible We believe that God inspired the Bible and has given it to us as the uniquely authoritative, written guide for Christian living and thinking. The Scriptures are true and reliable. They point us to God, guide our lives, and nurture us toward spiritual maturity. The Christian Life We believe that God has called us to be and to make disciples of Jesus Christ and to be God's agents of love and reconciliation in the world. The Church We believe in the church as the people of God, composed of all who believe in Jesus Christ, who support and equip each other through worship, teaching, and accountability, who model God's loving community, and who proclaim the gospel to the world. The Future We believe in the personal return of Jesus Christ, in the resurrection of the dead, in God's judgment of all persons with perfect justice and mercy, and in eternal reward and punishment. Ultimately, Christ's kingdom will be victorious over all evil, and the faithful will reign with him in eternal life.
