Overview
Project Peace is a Christian nonprofit based in the East Bay that mobilizes volunteers, donors, and churches to serve community organizations working with people in greatest need. Founded in 2007 by leaders at Christ Church East Bay, the organization has grown to partner with more than 35 East Bay churches, 16,000+ volunteers, and 15+ community partner sites across Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, Walnut Creek, and Pleasant Hill.
Mission: "We're working to bring real, human flourishing to our local communities." Project Peace's identity is rooted in faith, service, and collaboration — following Jesus' example of servanthood while partnering with nonprofits, churches, and schools across denominations to deliver mercy and justice to East Bay communities.
Services offered
- Volunteer Matching: connects individuals to ongoing shifts with community partner organizations across the East Bay
- Day of Service: quarterly large-scale volunteer events serving multiple partner sites at once
- Church Network: a network of 30+ East Bay churches that mobilize volunteers and donors together
- Speaker Series: hosts local and national speakers on faith, justice, and community issues
- Community Partner Support: ongoing collaboration with organizations like Bay Area Rescue Mission, CityTeam, Harbor House, Hope Solutions, and Oakland International High School
